164: Christie Buchele, “A Body That I Could Love”

Episode 164: Our story today comes from Denver comedian and dear friend of The Narrators, Christie Buchele. Christie told this story at our 8th anniversary show back in March, with a little help from fellow comedian and friend of the show Talitha K. Each story that night was accompanied by sound painting, a.k.a. live improvised music from our pals at Playground Ensemble. The whole evening was an interesting experiment, full of bumps and surprises and supremely real moments. The story you’ll hear today was one of our favorites of the night. Christie’s story was told live on 21 March 2018 at Buntport Theater in Denver, Colorado. The theme of the evening was “Keeping Up.”

138: Christie Buchele, “Comedy Will Kill You Too”

Comedy has always been in this show’s DNA—The Narrators was founded by a comic and funny folks have been sharing stories since our first show in 2010. Today’s story comes from Christie Buchele, one of our absolute favorites comics and storytellers, talking about her relationship with the art form—and booze, the substance that often fuels it. Christie’s story was recorded live on 19 July 2017 at Buntport Theater in Denver, Colorado. The theme of the evening was “Bars.”

We’re proud to announce that The Narrators will once again be part of High Plains Comedy Festival this year. Join us next weekend on Saturday, 26 August at Hi-Dive in Denver for a very special show featuring our founder Andrew Orvedahl, actor Sonya Eddy, national headlining comedians Ramon Rivas and Ryan O’Flanagan, and show favorites Chris Charpentier and Nancy Norton. You can find more information and buy tickets at highplainscomedyfestival.com. See you there!

Please subscribe to this podcast for weekly updates on our events and keep an eye on our Facebook page for the latest details. See you soon!

    This Wednesday in Denver: “Bars”

BUNTPORT THEATER, DENVER, 19 July 2017 at 8:00PM:

Sometimes you want to go where everybody knows your name and they’re always glad you came. You wanna be where you can see that our troubles are all the same. You wanna go where people know that people are all the same. You wanna go where everybody knows your name.

We get it. That’s why this month’s theme is “Bars.” Turn off those gymnastics reruns, grab a Hershey’s with Almonds, and get yourself to Buntport to hear true stories from this incredible lineup of storytellers:

…and your host, Ron Doyle, probably eating a Klondike.

The show is as free as the feeling when you hang upside-down by your knees on the monkey bars. Beer from Renegade Brewing Company and cheap wine available by donation.

    See you there!
