In honor of Mother’s Day and “Tongues,” our theme for May, today we’re sharing a story that features fifth-grade frenching, sibling blackmail, and one super smart mom. This story was told by Steph Gustafson on 16 December 2015 at Buntport Theater in Denver Colorado; the theme of that evening was “Siblings.”

Our regular monthly shows are just around the corner—first on 10 May in San Diego at Tiger!Tiger! Tavern and then on 18 May in Denver at Buntport Theater. Both shows are free, both start at 8pm, and both will focus on the theme “Tongues.”

In Denver, we are teaming up with the Forum Stories and the Misunderstood podcast on 14 May for a special evening entitled Totally Normal, where The Narrators favorites like Timmi Lasley and Debbie Scheer will share stories about the humanity, humor and totally ordinary world of mental health. Hope to see you there!

This week’s story comes from Rae Moore, who shares a lovely story of growing up as a home-schooled child with her three siblings. Rae’s story was recorded live on February 17th at Buntport Theater in Denver, Colorado and the theme of the evening was “DIY or DIE.”

A few upcoming events: A Moment of Truth, our special all-improvised storytelling collaboration with Finest City Improv, is this Saturday, 23 April in San Diego, so be sure to grab your tickets at finestcityimprov.com. In Denver, we are teaming up with the Forum Stories and the Misunderstood podcast on 14 May for a special evening entitled Totally Normal, where The Narrators favorites like Timmi Lasley and Debbie Scheer will be sharing stories about the humanity, humor and totally ordinary world of mental health.

And, right now at Buntport Theater in Denver, our beloved co-host Erin Rollman is doing a solo one-act play entitled The Rembrandt Room. We don’t typically promote Buntport’s  shows on our podcast, since they are works of fiction, but this one is really special. It feels like something you’d see at The Narrators—a smart, funny and surprisingly personal story told by the most peculiar museum docent in the world. Erin puts on an incredible performance, one that cannot be missed. Make your reservations now at buntport.com.

Today’s story is by actor, director, and choreographer Diana Dresser. Head’s up: This story is about a stalker, so it could be a trigger for folks who have experienced stalker-related trauma. Diana’s story was recorded live on October 21, 2015 at Buntport Theater in Denver, Colorado; the theme of the evening was “Creeps.”

Also, there’s an illustrated teaser of this week’s story in Issue #28 of Birdy Magazine, so if you live in Denver, be sure to grab a copy while it’s still on the newsstands. Special thanks to Chrissy and Johnny and everyone else at Birdy magazine for including us—and a super-duper special thanks to the illustrator, Jackie Hay, and our intern Sydney Crain for making this collaboration happen.
