    This Wednesday in Denver: “CREEPS”

BUNTPORT THEATER, DENVER, 21 OCTOBER 2015 at 8:00PM:

The heebie-jeebies. The willies. The landmark pop singles by Radiohead and TLC. The shakes. The chills. The American military industrial complex. The pins and needles. The creepy-crawlies. Gamergate. The ants in your pants. The goose-flesh shivers. You get the idea. Please join us for a night filled with “Creeps,” told by our reassuringly non-creepy lineup of stellar storytellers:

…and your host, Erin Rollman, telepathically raising the hair on the back of your neck. We’ll have beer and wine available for donation (CASH ONLY). See you there!

63: Jeff Campbell, “A Tribe Called Crush”

Today’s story comes from Jeff Campbell and was recorded live at our fifth anniversary show on March 18, 2015. The theme of the evening was “Symbiotes” and his story was entitled “A Tribe Called Crush.”

Jeff Campbell has been a part of Denver’s creative community for over two decades, as a pioneering Hip Hop and spoken word artist, as well as facilitator of arts-in-education programs for Colorado’s youth in public schools. Jeff recently wrote and performed his first play, a one man show entitled “Who Killed Jigaboo Jones?” a One Man Mockumentary on the Hip Hop Industrial Complex. He also performed with The Narrators—and a bunch of puppets!—as part of a special collaboration with Off-Center at The Jones in 2014.

Our next live event in Denver takes place tonight! We’re collaborating with The Flobots to bring you a special multi-lingual Narrators on Friday, May 29, 2015 at 8:00pm, as part of the Denver Art Museum’s Untitled Final Fridays event.

Special thanks to Josh Johnson with engineering help on this episode. Our theme music is by our friend Whalehawk (aka the Grammy-nominated musician Jake Sanders).

  • 35: Things I’ve Forgotten, Part 2

    35: Things I’ve Forgotten, Part 2

Part two of our search for “Things I’ve Forgotten” features stories by one of our favorite regular guests, Chris Charpentier, and The Narrators’ co-host Andrew Orvedahl.  These stories were recorded at The Deer Pile on January 16th, 2013 by our main man Ron Doyle.

The intro and outro music was produced and graciously provided by Sans Seruf, and you can find more slick beats for your earholes over at his bandcamp page.

If you don’t know yet, The Narrators collaborated on a theatrical production with Off-Center at the Jones Theater. It’s called Lived/Re-lived and features three of our best storytellers: Jeff Campbell, Timmi Lasley, and Kelly Shortandqueer telling stories that will be reinterpreted on stage with the help of aerial ballet troupes, puppeteers, musicians, and filmmakers. The show will run on three dates: March 7th, 14th, and 21st, 2014.  Tickets are now on sale. Snatch ’em up and we’ll see you there.

Our March show at the Deer Pile will take place on Thursday the 20th and our theme will be “Slapstick!”

    Thanks for listening!
