    November 2017: Upcoming Special Events in Denver

    We have two special (and totally free) shows coming up in Denver this month:

    DENVER MUSEUM OF NATURE & SCIENCE
    IN THE BOTSWANA DIORAMA HALL
    S    ATURDAY, 4 NOVEMBER, 7:00-9:00pm

    The Narrators is going to the Denver Museum of Nature & Science! Join us on Saturday, 4 November, for a special FREE all-ages show inside the Botswana diorama hall—IN FRONT OF WARTHOGS. This event will feature true stories by some of our favorite storytellers—Ellen K Graham, Kelly Shortandqueer, Mitch Slevc, Mathiba Kgopa, and Sydney Crain—with your host, Ron S. Doyle. Our performance is part of DioramART, a special program during Night at the Museums. Admission to the museum is free from 5-10pm and we’ll be sharing the diorama halls with other incredible artists, including Ian Cooke,Conscious Creatives, Life/Art Dance Ensemble, and #WeAreDenver.

    DENVER FILM FESTIVAL
    FESTIVAL ANNEX AT THE MCNICHOLS BUILDING AT CIVIC CENTER PARK
    WEDNESDAY, 8 NOVEMBER, 7:00PM

    For the 40th annual Denver Film Festival, we have assembled a special lineup of performers to focus on the theme “Making a Scene.” This show will feature stories from Christie Buchele and Janae Burris (Pussy Bros., “Scary Lucy”), Yvie Oddly (Drag Nation), Theresa Mercado (Scream Screen), and more. With your host, Erin Rollman. Tickets are required but admission is free. Advanced tickets are available at https://www.denverfilm.org.

    Today’s story comes from storyteller, Ellen Wright. Ellen told this story about herself, her brother, and the fluctuating space between them at our San Diego show last month.This story was recorded live on 12 September 2017 at Tiger! Tiger! Tavern in San Diego, California. The theme of the evening was “Space.”

    We’re also proud to announce that we will be part of the Denver Film Festival this year and we’re doing a special show at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science as part of Denver Arts Week.     Today’s story comes from very special first-time storyteller, Sonya Eddy. Sonya told this story about a painful ski trip last month at the High Plains Comedy Festival. This story was recorded live on 26 August 2017 at the Hi-Dive in Denver, CO. The theme of the show was “Eating it.”

    If you’re in Denver, join us tonight at the Denver Art Museum for a special collaboration with Playground Ensemble as part of the museum’s Untitled Final Fridays series. Hear true stories on the theme “Animal Instincts” and an original story-inspired music composition inside the new Stampede exhibit on the third floor of the Hamilton Building. The event starts at 6:00pm and our performance is free with admission to the museum.

    Also join us at the Clyfford Still Museum next Saturday, 7 October for the Denver Talks kickoff party, a citywide conversation about class and race presented by the Lighthouse Writer’s Workshop and the City of Denver.

    Our next regular monthly shows will take place on Tuesday, 10 October in San Diego and on Wednesday, 17 October in Denver. The theme will be “In the Dark.”

    This Friday in Denver: “Animal Instincts” at the Denver Art Museum

    The Narrators has teamed up with Playground Ensemble for a special performance at the Denver Art Museum’s Untitled Final Fridays series.

    Come hear true stories from Hannah Duggan, Hana Low and Daniel Reskin at 7:15pm, then a true story and original musical composition at 8:15pm by Loretta Notareschi, performed by string musicians Sarah Whitnah, Robyn Julyan, Donald Schumacher, and Richard vonFoerster.

    Hosted by Ron Doyle, who would like you to know that he’s an excellent camper. Free with admission to the event, which has free snacks, a cash bar, and tons of other amazing programming. See you there!

    Today’s story about a botanical cultural exchange on the border of Tijuana and San Diego comes from Daniel Watman. This story was recorded live on 8 August 2017 at Tiger! Tiger! Tavern in San Diego, California. The theme of the evening was “Crossing Over.”

    The Narrators will be at the Denver Art Museum on 29 September as part of their Untitled Final Fridays program. We’ve teamed up with Playground Ensemble to present “Animal Instincts,” a collection of true stories and musical performance about the wilder side of our everyday lives. The show is free with admission to the museum. Our next regular monthly shows will take place on Tuesday, 10 October at Tiger! Tiger! Tavern in San Diego and Wednesday, 18 October at Buntport Theater in Denver. The theme will be “In the Dark.”
