Todayā€™s story comes from AJ Pape. AJ’s story was recorded live on 18 November 2015 at Buntport Theater in Denver, Colorado. The theme of the evening was “If You Can’t Say Something Nice.”

Our next show is on Wednesday, December 16 at Buntport Theater in Denver. The theme will be Siblings and sadly, it’s our last show of 2015. But, have no fear, we’ll be back in 2016 and for the first time ever we’ve announced an entire year’s worth of themes in advance, so please head over to our Events page and check out the list.

As always, we love hearing from you folks out there in podcast land, and if you want to get us a gift for Christmas, please consider taking a moment to rate this podcast on iTunes. It only takes 15 seconds but really does help our ranking there.

Our theme music is by our friend Whalehawk (aka the Grammy-nominated musician Jake Sanders).

We’re back after a long Thanksgiving weekend with a story from Jenny Minniti-Shippey. Jenny shares a glimpse into life as a young writer in Galway, a fittingĀ tale for our San Diego Beer Week-themed show “Bottled Up,” recorded live at Tiger! Tiger! Tavern on 10 November 2015.

Our next live eventsā€”which are our last two shows of 2015ā€”will take place on 8 December in San Diego and 16 December in Denver. The theme will be ā€œSiblings.ā€
AND! On Thursday, 3 December, we’ll be posting our show themes for 2016. That’s right, the whole year, presented to you with a seasonal, non-existent, metaphorical bow. If you’ve ever wanted to be a part of the show, you’ll be able to start planning now. Stay tuned on our website and on our Facebook page for the big announcement, and we hope to see you at a show.

Robert steps up on his soap box with a mini rant about what makes a good story and presents this week’s tale, which comes to you from Kendall Burdett, a writer, comedian, and native San Diegan who wears a suit well enough to convince officers of the law that he is an attorney. This story was recorded live on 10 November 2015 at Tiger!Tiger! Tavern in San Diego, California. The theme of the evening was “Bottled Up.”

Today’s story comes from first-time storyteller Carolyn Matthews. Carolyn hails from the great state of New Jersey, she works for the Boulder International Film Festival and she is captain of the Denver Molly Browns, arguably the best ultimate frisbee team in this city and indisputably the best-named team in this town. This story was recorded live on September 16, 2015 at Buntport Theater in Denver, Colorado. The theme of the evening was “Firsts.”

Thanks to all of you folks outside of Denver and San Diego who have been sending us messages. Itā€™s really cool to know that you exist, so please keep those messages coming.

We have two very special events coming up next week in California and Colorado. In San Diego, please join us on Tuesday, November 10 at Tiger!Tiger! Tavern for a special evening in honor of San Diego Beer Week. The theme will be ā€œBottled Upā€ and the show starts at 8pm. The show is free and be sure to ask about all the special beers on tap for the evening. In Denver, join us at 4pm on on Saturday, November 14 at Four Mile Historic Park for the Stompinā€™ Ground Games, a monthly neighborhood history and pride event created by our pals at Warm Cookies of the Revolution. This month’s event will focus on neighborhoods in southeast Denver and the art of storytellingā€”there will be activities, prizes, storytellers, dancers and a multicultural fashion show put on by a bunch of adorable elementary school kids. The event is free but donations are encouraged.

As always, please check our Facebook page for the latest information about these and all of our events. Hope to see you there!
